Choral Repertoire: Vier Gesänge by Johannes Brahms
Vier Gesänge (Four Songs), op. 17 by Johannes Brahms is a work for treble chorus, harp and two French horns. Although an unusual instrumentation, Brahms makes full use of the harp and the harp plays in all four songs.
The harp part available here is from the book Choral Repertoire: Harp Parts, compiled and edited by Jacqueline Pollauf. The part has not been simplified for ease of playing, but has been re-notated with modern notation and includes helpful harp-specific information: pedal markings, cues, enharmonic equivalents, and some suggested fingerings. Page layouts have been carefully optimized for page turns. A textual introduction is also provided with background information and performance notes.
