Choral Repertoire: Requiem by Maurice Duruflé (Full Orchestra Version)
Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, op. 9 is the composer’s best-known work. It is based on Gregorian plainchant and also influenced by the harmonies and textures of French impressionism. Duruflé created three versions of the Requiem, all for chorus and different instrumentations. Harp is found in two of these versions: the Full Orchestra Version and the Reduced Orchestra Version.
The harp part available here is the Full Orchestra Version and is from the book Choral Repertoire: Harp Parts, compiled and edited by Jacqueline Pollauf. (The Reduced Orchestra Version is also available.) The part has not been simplified for ease of playing, but has been re-notated with modern notation and includes helpful harp-specific information: pedal markings, cues, enharmonic equivalents, and some suggested fingerings. Page layouts have been carefully optimized for page turns. A textual introduction is also provided with background information and performance notes.
