Choral Repertoire: Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda by Gustav Holst
Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda, op. 26, Group 3 by Gustav Holst is a work for treble chorus and harp, the same instrumentation as Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. This complex harp part is both technically challenging and musically rewarding. The harp plays almost constantly throughout the work.
The harp part available here is from the book Choral Repertoire: Harp Parts, compiled and edited by Jacqueline Pollauf. The part has not been simplified for ease of playing, but has been re-notated with modern notation and includes helpful harp-specific information: pedal markings, cues, enharmonic equivalents, and some suggested fingerings. Page layouts have been carefully optimized for page turns. A textual introduction is also provided with background information and performance notes.
